As the first collection of the composer's writings translated into English, The Selected. Here, if anything, Reger added new impetus to the work, with the performers rising to every challenge set. One of the finest recordings of transcriptions of Bach that I have heard in a very long time. However, in these pieces Reger never imitates – in spite of the new simplicity his characteristic harmony is retained.
