Once the top end of the link was freed up, I just pulled the link off the bottom stud. I recently replaced my original OEM shocks in the rear with Koni STR. That is exactly what I use but it takes a while. It was the pinion seal and it was just easier to get at with the rear out since I don't have a lift. If I REALLY force it I can get it in there, but that seems wrong. If your car lived in the rust belt they are downright mandatory!
