The band's playing during the "Tour From Hell" was nearly heroic in that they were carrying him. So many roads really is a touching write off. It was the last show of the greatest band in rock history, and it is the last time that Jerry ever recorded live. 30 years had come to an end with bad things happen on this tour I felt that this was going to be the last tour especially when I heard of the double encore.
He was missing stuff for 30 years. Sadly, Jerry & band bow out with this chillingly bad gig. Thank you for the beautiful music Mr. Garcia. This policy is a part of our Terms of Use. During this period, the music was (instrumentally) centered on Jerry's unique guitar playing. In the end, though, how do you rate a MIRACLE? A cloud formed above that looked like jerry. I felt this way even before the show after witnessing the debacle of deer creek riot. Our service has detected that English is used on the page, and neither this language nor any other was claimed in or tags. His voice withering, his guitar crying, and his frame just standing there, hunched over. Decent show, an utterly exhausted man giving it his all. Cause it hurts too much. So Many Roads to ease my soul.
Subject: Unbutchered So Many Roads. I was at this show 3rd. Because with all the healing I've done, I can't even imagine getting caught up in someone's web in that way again. Some of it will give you chills when you figure that, as weak as Jerry obviously was, he really gives it his all in the later parts of the song. Yeah, if I really want to get sad I'll listen to this show. Thank god i never saw any video of this - from the sounds of it, it is a horror show. I felt proud of myself. But it is the end result of one of the most amazing musical evolutions ever. Jerry sings " the LAST muddy river". Agree w/most - the show did not rate w/anything quality the guys had produced over the years. I would give a testicle to have the opportunity to go back in time and catch the band at any point in their history--just to have the opportunity to experience the magic that was the GD. Seriously weak first set, second set it a little better (So Many Roads is good like most have said) but overall nothing impressive going on. And to all who like to sit back and blast a show on how poor it was-I dont believe anyone to this day has been able to began to re-create what those guys did pretty much day-in and day-out for not just years but decades! Subject: The Music Will Never Stop!!! Subject: black muddy river. 3) Box Of Rain -- Yeah, there is no doubt that Phil is belting this one out but we'll never know if that was because it was poignant or because Phil & the boys were trying to beat the clock. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to give myself some new hobbies, interests and challenges to give myself something to do.
I never have gotten into the "scene", and I in ways, I am glad I didn't. I didn't know what to expect on Sunday August 13, 1995, when I headed towards the Memorial in the Golden Gate Park Polo Fields, San Francisco. This (1st) last show from 95 was actually a well played show considering the stage in life Garcia was in. So, no this was not a good show by any means, and i defy anyone to contradict me with true sincerity and truthfulness, but, let's stop trashing the 90's as a whole - there were several outstanding performances - i know 'cause i was there(not relying on the tapes as a reference. Subject: Point Missed. Subject: Say your peace and get out. UPDATE: Ok today's the one day when I'll give this a short listen, then quickly move on to some favorites of mine from 74, 77, and 69. Is it the band I first heard in 1970, first saw in 1974? Bookmark the page to make it easier for you to find again! I know that some will not agree, but this is just my opinion. Subject: It Was 10 Years Ago Today... when Jerry left us. I first heard the Dead in 7th grade [fall 1970] when a friend brought in his older brother's copy of Workingman's Dead on "bring an album to class day" - - a once a month occurrence in my music class. This was a sub-par Dead show.
