Going into this book, I thought we would focus more on Emiline's life as an adult with the book and the past playing an important background role but instead the past dominated most of the book and the real story with our real characters were just left neglected. But I'll be honest with you, reading this book was definitely one of those situations where my heart was in my throat in the last quarter because I swear it did not seem like there were enough pages left to finish the story and as I hurtled full tilt towards the end, I was so scared that there wouldn't be time to resolve everything between them. I really liked this one for the first 85ish% of the book, but sadly the writing style and the events that took place in the last part ruined it completely for me. Things that mean something to her. That's how attached I was. What was Jase's motivation in airing all of her most hidden hurts? I had huge expectations for this book based on the premise of the book. I loved Emiline & Jason's story! Though this book fell terribly short for me, I'm still a huge fan and will surely pick up Renée's future books. Each moment is a story in itself. This is one absolutely beautiful book. But the angst really got me in this book. I loved that it was very plot driven and very well written. Independent Maggie never complains about Ridge's friendship with Sydney, and it's hard to even want Ridge to leave Maggie when she reveals her devastating secret. When I read the blurb of this story, I was immediately intrigued. I felt like it just had so much freaking potential!!! When Ryle is not in the throes of a jealous rage, his redeeming qualities return, and Lily can justify his behavior: "I think we needed what happened on the stairwell to happen so that I would know his past and we'd be able to work on it together, " she tells herself. Run to your nearest amazon asap... you need to read this book!!!! There wasn't the emotion feel that I expected.
I can't even put in my favorite quotes because it will spoil the story but it's all in the writing and for me those last few lines. I am in complete love with Jase & Emi!! This is one of those stories that will leave its mark on many readers.
