Because the closer Reagan gets to the truth, the hotter things get... My Thoughts... Duffy Brown has written a fun folksy, southern comfort, cozy mystery with Reagan as a spunky heroine. The characters are SOOOO.. Savannah, and the descriptions take me right to the streets and foods of this great city. " Reagan is a funny, admirable heroine, a business owner with Southern charm and hospitality who reinvented who she is as a business woman after her divorce. After solving two murders, bike shop owner Evie Bloomfield thought life on Mackinac Island would settle into boredom until she finds out Nate Sutter, island police chief and once-upon-a-time under cover cop is on the run. She and her dog, BW, pass many a long evening together – many of them with her fun Auntie Kiki and Uncle Putter, who live next door. For the reasons above, I can't even really rate the effectiveness of the mystery - random names that I can't remember being thrown in my face repeatedly does not help me work out what's going on in a book, particularly when the heroine herself has no idea half the time. Her prose flows well and her skills with dialogue are exceptional. And so Regan has no choice but to start investigating by herself, and of course with the help of her dear auntie KiKi and some other friends. A good mystery with humor and a hint of romance. Packed with a LOL sense of humor, the mystery carefully weaves in and out of island exposé. As a whodunit, it gets straight into mystery within a few pages and provides ample clues and suspects, although, as a book, it really suffers from poor proofreading, with some sloppy typos (here/her and all ready/already, several times) and atrocious spelling errors (pealing/peeling; singing/singeing; conscious/conscience; amble/ample) which was really distracting. The cans of paint are to spruce up Rudy's Rides, the somewhat dilapidated shop of Abigail's father that several people on the island are out to get. Duffy: I just love the South.

What could possibly be wrong with that? As this reader raced toward the solution, she was disappointed only in that the end was very abrupt, leaving one feeling as if falling from a cliff within seconds after the murder was solved. But the already dirty campaign is about to get downright filthy--with one candidate getting bu... Mackinac Island is a peaceful summer resort town where everyone coasts through the streets on bicycles.
Among the interesting folks in the neighborhood is a killer, though neither Reagan nor this reader were able to figure out the "who" or "why" until…well, until.
