It;s a pretty robust cam locking connector and should never come loose but it sure fits the description of the symptom! OR is the module bad and needs to be replaced AND the new module reprogrammed? With this fuse missing and me being the only driver/mechanic of this vehicle, I have to assume it has never been there and is not the cause of the problem. When I installed my door, I tried pulling the wires through the inside and while pulling one of the butt connectors slipped off and I saw some sparks.. Would this be a vag-com issue or is it something bigger? Sometimes a fuse is bad but doesn't completely break through allowing you to think its still good.
If a DDM needs programming, does it not work at all? There is an electrical connector at the door, on the hinge side, that would be first thing to check. I am now really led to believe the module is a problem, likely a broken solder joint. I am not sure what that is, perhaps an option the car is not equipped with.
