The Upper Yahara is a shallow and rocky river which will need higher levels to be navigable. The trail continues on Bashford Street for a short distance and then crosses Milwaukee Street. River Depth and Navigability: There is a depth gauge conveniently located near the take-out. If water's more your thing, there's a boat and canoe/kayak launch for easy access to Lake Waubesa.
Aldo Leopold Nature Center. The DeForest trail will expand the existing Upper Yahara River Trail, which begins at Windsor Road and extends nearly 2. This area is also home to miles of prairie and wetland trails, some of which will take you behind the Lussier Family Heritage Center, a hub for environmental and outdoor education (as well as a top-notch wedding venue).
This extension of paved trail along Main Street will provide a trail connection between the Glacial Drumlin Trail and McCarthy County Park. The Yahara Headwaters water trail travels through the marsh. 4 miles to Sunnybrook Park.
