I wonder if sending end-of-year surveys on clubs' listservs would help get around this problem. I don't want college quizbowl to be made easier just so I can keep my status as an "elite player" without having to put in the work. There are examples every year of very good undergraduate teams (or teams led by undergraduates) winning Nats, defeating eventual Nats winners or giving them a run for their money, or doing very well in the top bracket.
