We receive a flashback to Kobeni's encounter with the yakuza elderly woman. He springs to life, chainsaws whirring as Akane tells Katana Man not to damage Denji's heart when they inevitably battle. Often you see animes divulge from the main story after dropping a particularly intense episode, but Chainsaw Man picks up with exactly what viewers wanted to see. It may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but it is what makes this show's visual style distinct because it draws you in with moments of normalcy before unleashing the craziness. We understand why Denji jumps at the chance of doing anything she asks, but we also understand. Makima repeats the process as more convicts and henchmen perish. Before she completely vanishes, as the Ghost Devil dies too, a hand of the Ghost Devil heads towards Denji to help him out. Her eyes regained a little animation and made her less detached only during the time she was around Denji.
