Fish you may find include Largemouth Bass, Striped bass, White Perch, White bass, Crappie, Channel catfish, Arkansas Blue Catfish and Bream. Swimmers are also welcome on the lake, and since High Rock is the first in a chain of lakes, the water is murkier than one might be used to, but there is no need to worry. There's even a designated wilderness area if you really want to get way from civilization. This paddle usually takes about 3 hours, plan for more time if you want to explore the cove and creek. The lake has over 240 miles of shoreline with multiple launch areas and campsites located at different points around the lake. The sea-kayaking adventure in Cherry Grove Marsh offers a scenic paddle through a coastal salt-marsh. The three hydroelectric turbines are located below Tuckertown Dam. Five different launch sites are situated around the lake providing easy access. This lake has many side coves and channels that provide numerous paddling trip options. By boat, you can explore the Yadkin river, the many creeks and cruise the three hundred and fifty plus miles of shoreline.
The area has now become part of a national wildlife refuge and state park and a canal that runs through the swamp makes it easy to explore the area by boat. 1392822 ft. Lake Santeetlah is an attractive lake located in western North Carolina that is surrounded by hills and woodlands existing in a largely natural state. The island is a remote spot that offers excellent opportunity for birdwatching and exploring secluded marshes and protected creek. The lake is long and narrow but there are side channels to explore off the main channel. The scenery in this area is mostly wooded banks with residential development.
