The comic is a roughly three inch square, bound with staples and only four total pages of reading material. Letters to an Absent Father is a comic strip detailing how Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum deals with having a father whom he's never seen. Signed and dated Oct. 1993 by the author. In this, Odomo captures the innocence one sees in a child when he/she is trying to handle a situation much too complex for someone at such a young age. He's thinking up great things (and eats a lot of nachos)! But with Odomo at the helm I don't see that happening. The indie cartoonist said Monday that he will sell hard copies of his Pokémon-inspired web comic Letters to an Absent Father. Essentially, the "letters" are a young child's observations, musings, questions, etc. And Letters does this beautifully. These two scripts are free-writes. Letters to an Absent Father is a brilliant and oh-so-adorable set of comic strips about Pokemon. Flyer for the "Hermit Club". Odomo has also transplanted Adventure Time onto the cover of MF Doom's "MM.. Food. Rather than focus on Red or Blue or any of the other video game trainers, Odomo instead uses Ash from the Pokémon anime as the lead for his comics. Now that I think of it, I'm not really sure how I found Maré Odomo (or did he find me first... ). Win Comic Book Prizes! Unfortunately, the vast majority of the promising genre is populated by bloated, tiresome reads that amount to nothing more than cheap fantasies.
