MFW on the other hand, is very Biblically based. You just need to decide which is the best fit for YOUR family. We have finally switched away from the curriculum we have used from K-9th grade! MFW provides several books to read, and each child retains what is developmentally appropriate for their age. IMO too heavy when there is so much else we have to cover too. MFW language arts in 1st is not as abstract as I remember FIAR language arts being. For me personally, I am a visual learner with auditory waaaay at the bottom. It's been frustrating and overwhelming for me to try to implement this year, but I had a new colicky baby and a very VERY busy toddler. Science is too random. Sometimes we reserve ALL the books in the Book Basket, sometimes none.
