My daughters (3 and 8), as I all train at Studio Naga () which is on San Pablo at Stanford in Oakland. Excellent instructors! It's an incredibly positive place. My son was involved there for many years and gained so much confidence, skills, strength and self-esteem. No one is made to feel like they don't belong here! They are great exercise, and a good martial arts studio puts special emphasis on respect, kindness, honesty, self-discipline and self-confidence. You are taught to ''move out of the way'' and that failing, then how to use and redirect another's energy with low impact on your own body.
