Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Below I'll include some thoughts on how to watch Season 2 Episode 1 of The Chosen with your youth group and how to focus your discussion specifically on the interesting things that The Chosen is doing with John, the son of Zebedee, which The Chosen identifies as the writer of the Gospel of John and the Beloved Disciple. We are never explicitly told why Jesus calls James and John the Sons of Thunder, however, many interpreters have concluded it has to do with the brash and zealous character we see on display when they ask to call fire down on Samaritans for rejecting Jesus ( Luke 9:51-56). Since most Jewish people don't recognize Jesus as the messiah, it's easy to think of Jesus as the savior sent for Christians. Episode 2 Guide: Philip, Nathanael, & Matthew. The Chosen Season 3, Episode 2 contains extensive portions of the teaching Jesus gave when commissioning the disciples ( Matthew 10). And God saw that the light was good.
Since I won't be able to do so without going into detail, consider this a **spoiler alert**. And just like that, Season 2 of The Chosen is done! Phillip tells Matthew to remind Simon of this the next time that Simon criticized Matthew about something. The series' connections with real people in a Jewish cultural context as they encounter the Messiah are its biggest assets, so here's a helpful guide to help keep up with the core subplots we saw in the second season's second episode, entitled "I Saw You. As the first multi-season Bible series to be created, it has the potential to reach beyond traditional Christian audiences and transform the culture both inside and outside the church.
He goes to his parents' house to apologize, wavers, but his old dog alerts them to his presence. And the verses quoted by Thomas in this episode: For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. She is also depicted as a follower of John the Baptist, whom she visits in prison. I'm not suggesting we read books others have written about the Bible or listen to what our pastors say, although those are things we should include in our studies. Nathanael is skeptical because Jesus is from Nazareth, but Phillip insists that He is the Messiah, which is why Nathanael has to come and see him. Did Judas have a sister? Matthew 5:1-16 ESV). Blessed Are the Chosen is an eight-lesson interactive Bible study for individuals or small groups based on season 2 of the groundbreaking television show, The Chosen. Andrew struggles with seeing John in jail, Simon and Eden struggle when their plan to begin a family is disrupted almost immediately, Little James struggles because Jesus hasn't healed him, Thomas struggles when it initially seems like his plan to seek Ramah in marriage might get disrupted. The disciples have apparently all gathered together to mourn the death of John's brother, James, who was recently killed for his faith.
Jesus has a special plan for each of us. Later, the disciples (without Jesus) meet at Matthew's old house to eat one last time together.
