I don't know how he calmed me down without even talking, but he did. Those were questions I once had and the truth is, I can't judge them. Ryle tries to rape Lily in his anger and bashes her head with his when she bites his tongue.
But when that loaded gun goes off, someone dies. Oh Ryle, I have such mixed feelings when it comes to him. Nor is there any shocking betrayal that will leave you wounded. But it does so absolutely beautifully and I really do feel that Hoover does it complete justice. Some people just have a calming presence about them and he's one of those people. Girl doesn't think twice before marrying some random dude she met 6 months ago, after the possible risk that he might turn out like her father? Screams with happiness*. When he kissed that spot on her collarbone, he only wanted her tattoo to remind her of the reason she got it in the first place. Back to the actual story, I must say that this a deep novel that tackles some serious topics. Take a gun, for instance. Everything changes once Atlas Corrigan comes back into the picture.

Atlas Corrigan was the 17-year-old homeless boy Lily helped when she was 15. I never expected a character to be perfect. You can start right away. And all it took was a measly fifteen seconds. I can completely understand how some people may not like this, however, in my opinion, this is no different to how we see people in real life. He was a huge wave that left a lot of imprints on my life, and I'll feel the weight of that love until I die. She should have walked away without another word. She wants her daughter to grow up without remembering her father only as an abuser. It Starts With Us is a great novel and well worth checking out. And people like my father are the problem. Both of them are drunk. I'm sorry about that. If Ryle truly loves you, he wouldn't allow you to take him back. Atria Books, August 2, 2016.
Theo and Josh have my whole heart. Please don't allow that to happen..... We all have a limit. Lily had eaten there once before and knew Atlas worked there. Due to the domestic abuse Lily had witnessed her father execute on her mother as a child, an older and wiser Lily decides to divorce her abusive husband Ryle for the sake of her daughter Emerson. I think this is something Lily knew all along too. That is the type of love that exists between people who will always have the other's best interests at heart. "If it takes a million kisses for her not to think about the scars that surround her heart tattoo, then I'll kiss her there a million and one times. It takes an astronomical amount of pain and courage to disrupt a familiar pattern. He swore it would never happen again. I freaking loved them together.
