Maybe after I read the comic, more of the story will fall into place and I'll understand it better, but that's about it. The main plot revolves around Yoon So Ah, a poor psychiatrist, (played by Shin Se Kyung) and the Water God, Haebak, (played by Nam Joo Hyuk) who has been sent to the world of man to retrieve the God Stones before he can officially be crowned King of the God Country. How far could their love go? "The Bride of the Water God" had an excellent base story, but then they decided to turn a melodrama with a not-so-lucky ending into a romantic comedy, it just went wrong. The drama includes plenty of humor mostly stemming from Habaek's reactions and his narcissistic attitude. It is to live life to the fullest, given your limited lifespan and not to live with regrets. The cinematography was beautiful as well. Bride of the Water God is loosely based on the manhwa (Korean comic book) about a water god, Habaek, and his romance with a human girl. There was good chemistry between the main characters as well Moo Ra and Bi Ryum. I really liked Nam Joo Hyuk and Shin Se Kyung both as individual characters so getting to know them was fun. A few points really stuck out to me during that rushed episode 16 finale: Hoo-ye had a good few episodes where he embraced his evilness and confronted Bi-ryeom, and then immediately spun wildly out of control and needed So-ah to bring him back from a self-loathing precipice. Unfortunately, he loses his powers when he lands on earth with his attendant, so they leave with no choice but to seek the descendant from a family, who vowed to serve the lineage of gods. Also a special mention for Im Joo Hwan who is always such a consistent performer. Re-watch value: 2 out of 5 stars.
It's a metaphor for his earlier life. I always decide to watch a drama based on it's poster. This show wasn't horrible by any means, and I hate that so many people gave up on it so quickly. Get ready for a long review *. My advice: If you liked Goblin and you also liked My Shy Boss (or Radiant Office or similar romcoms), I think you should give The Bride of Haebaek a try. It turns out that on the night when So Ah attempted to kill herself, his father as a god's servant was granted a wish, leading him to witness his daughter's suicide attempt. Habaek appeased my heart by showing a synergy of romance and fantasy which finally showed up in the dying minutes of the story, when I was just wanting a fan service and apology to forget everything that have happened. The Bride of Habaek, also known as Bride of the Water God, is a manga (manhwa in South Korea) turned k-drama series about Soah, an ordinary girl whom Habaek "the water god" fell in love with.
I was going through Netflix and I saw that Shin Se-kyung was in both Rookie historian and bride of habaek - I'm currently halfway through rookie historian and I think its sooo cute and pretty good so far (consequently I'm now also in love w Cha Eun-woo.... ). Her family is allegedly cursed to serve the gods forever. Not anything special, but just fine. I do think they ended the show much better than I was expecting, even if it was a bit anticlimactic. Excessively Diverted Writing. The Gist: From Drama Fever: Nam Joo Hyuk (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Scarlet Heart: Ryeo) and Shin Se Kyung (Six Flying Dragons) star in a modern retelling of a supernatural romance. They have zero personality. Haebak faces problems as soon as he lands on Earth. Shin Se Kyung is often attributed as the cause of having weak establishment of chemistry with her co-stars but as she is the "noona" of this drama with much more acting experience than her much younger co-stars, we would have expected her to be able to help them in delivering their roles better. Was this review helpful to you? She is not so altruist as Oh Ri Jin was. I get that a powerless deity is good fodder for fish-out-of-water jokes, especially since Habaek has an arrogant personality, which meant he could potentially offend many humans and get into awkward and hilarious situations. I don't why the writers tried to portray her as a pessimistic introvert because she's actually quite a positive and friendly person.
The ones who cry are losers. He takes things farther than anyone and has no concept of limits. My only gripe is that they sort of abandoned Shin Hoo Ye's storyline.
All in all I'll say that it was a great watch the second time around. How could the writers screw this up so bad? You can chip in a little every now and then. Have there ever been more boring gods? It may be because we want to make ourselves feel better or less miserable. They agree to achieve a proper closure for their feelings toward each other. She can play the hell out of any bitch.
I'm not mad I spent the time watching it. I think the producers spent all they had on that magnificent water-dragon scene which is the reason I started watching this show, by the way, and they just didn't have enough left for the remaining episodes. However, I do applaud her professionalism to continue filming the drama despite the demise of her grandmother. There are just people who are born lucky.
I was sort of expecting this. Consequently, the result was not satisfactory: the plot couldn't make me feel sadness or fun properly. At the same time, the author expects we take the drama seriously. He's by far the most intriguing and well developed character in the drama. How was there life after that? Childish, annoying, insipid, awkward.
Your enjoyment of this drama will heavily depend on if you feel the good outweighs the bad. This tells us that no matter how powerful you are in one place, you may just become a nobody in another world.
