The one thing I'm pretty good at is not "bothering" to respond to complete morons like Redgwell. I swiped one of the kiddie wash cloths back in the day. What ingredient attacks the copper? They do a BIG business (biggest in the Northwest) and I will see about them carrying your product. Damn, took nearly four weeks. Will hoppes 9 hurt gun finishes. I recall one barrel maker made rimfire barrels from free machining screw stock. I dont have a bore scope so I just read my patch. After a total of 31 rounds, it's a copper mine in there once again. These definitely can etch bores if left inside a bore even a little too long. Bore Tech is pricey but they always have a black Friday sale. Wipe Out, Patch Out.......................................!!! After that, I used Butches Bore Shine with nylon brushes repeatedly for several days, many hours each day, and I still had copper in the grooves.
I have found that using Hoppes, Butch's Bore Shine, etc before using the Wipeout helps it work better. John, if I may exploit my ignorance, how do you tell if a cleaner is a water-based ammonia? I have used it for about 10 years. I just wish I hadn't waited so long before finding out about Patch-Out. Now I'm not one to let a rifle barrel stay dirty.

Patch-out really works. I finish with Kroil... Not to start a fire fight but you guys that don't use brushes at some point when cleaning with Butches have tried using a brush after it looked clean and seen what comes out??? 458 is soaking right now. I like Hopped Copper Solvant but it will eat your brushes. The first rifle in the test was equipped with a custom, cut-rifled barrel and they don't foul much, plus they are easy to clean… maybe that was not a sufficient test for Patch-Out. The gun had a bit of fouling in it, so I filled up the bore with. Bore tech vs hoppes. I load hot and I want my rifle to throw that perfect first shot out of a totally clean barrel.

I shot the 26-06 Mauser that had been thoroughly cleaned with Wipe Out using 51 grains of IMR 4350 and a Sierra 100 grain bullet. Are now coming out almost perfectly clean. Salvages typically look pretty rough, but they seem to shoot a lot better than they look. I thought it was good stuff since it cleaned a lot of stuff out that the Hoppes products left behind, as well as eventually getting that telltale streak of copper near the muzzle.
